A Healthy Smile Is Important for a Great Overall Appearance

Three Ways To Deal With Gum Disease

For those that have gum disease, or even have gums that easily become infected, all hope is not lost. There are ways to deal with it that can make your gums healthier and feel better. All you need to do is add some of these techniques to your oral hygiene routine.

Rinse With Apple Cider Vinegar

Believe it or not, but this common household pantry item can actually be used to ease the discomfort of gum disease and infections. All you need to do is swish a little bit of the vinegar in your mouth for a few minutes. It's best to do it after you brush your teeth, as brushing helps remove built up plaque between your teeth and gums. This will allow the vinegar to clean between the teeth and attack germs more efficiently.

For those that find swishing with vinegar a bit too strong, you can apply it to your gums with a small spray bottle. Simply use a few sprays at once, and follow up with rinsing your gums with warm water.

Rising with vinegar will help your gums become infected less often, and will give you healthier gums in the end.

Brush Your Teeth With A Baking Soda Paste

Many toothpastes these days now come with baking soda, but it's not as effective as using the real thing. All you need to make your own homemade toothpaste is some baking soda and a small amount of water.

Mix the two ingredients together until it forms a paste, then apply the baking soda to your infected gums with a toothbrush. Be sure to work the baking soda between the teeth, as you want it to touch all portions of your gums. While it may feel weird, the process helps kill any germs lingering inside your mouth.

While you do not need to do this every day, doing it more often will help relieve infections and discomfort.

Drink Water With Lemon

Adding lemon to your water can actually help with your oral health. Lemon juice is acidic, and will help kill the bacterial on your gums. If you cannot find a way to brush between meals, lemon water can help your gums stay healthy.

Gum disease and infection is a very serious problem. If you've not spoken to your dentist about it, do so immediately. While these techniques will give you a great start toward better oral health, a professional consultation can go a long way as well.

About Me

A Healthy Smile Is Important for a Great Overall Appearance

I have always loved fashion and beauty and have always taken great pride in my appearance. As a young adult, I never missed a hair coloring appointment or hesitated to run out to the mall to grab the latest trendy clothing item, but unfortunately, I didn't care for my teeth as well as I should. While I never used to be one to "shy away" from photos, I started fearing the camera after I saw how bad my teeth looked in one. That photo was a wake-up call, and I then dedicated myself to taking better care of my teeth at home, visiting the dentist regularly, and getting the dental work I needed. I learned a lot during this time, so I decided to start a blog to help others make smart dental decisions. Come back and check out my posts!
