4 Natural Ways To Combat Gingivitis

Are you dealing with gingivitis? Gingivitis is one of the most common dental ailments. If left alone, gingivitis could have a very negative impact on your teeth. Fortunately, there are ways to prevent this. This article will discuss four natural remedies that can keep your gums free of gingivitis.

What Is Gingivitis Anyway?

Gingivitis is a disease that causes you to have tenderness, swelling, and redness in your gums. It's a disease that needs to be addressed once it is discovered.

If it is allowed to progress, it can lead to periodontitis. Periodontitis is a more advanced form of gingivitis that can cause immense damage to your mouth.

Periodontitis can cause a large amount of pain in your mouth. It can also lead to the loss of your teeth. It's important to make sure this doesn't happen.

What Causes Gingivitis?

Gingivitis is the result of poor dental habits. It happens when you are not taking good care of your teeth and gums. Poor dental habits allow plaque to build up in your mouth. After this, the plaque transforms into tartar, which contains harmful bacteria. This bacteria inflame your gums, causing them to swell.

Ways To Fight Gingivitis

Fortunately, there are several natural remedies you can use to fight gingivitis. If you are diligent about using these remedies, it will prevent gingivitis from progressing to dangerous levels.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has several different medicinal qualities. This plant is known for being able to soothe pain. If you have gingivitis, aloe vera can help kill the bacteria and decrease the levels of inflammation in your mouth.

Peppermint Leaves

Peppermint leaves are very useful for curing gingivitis. They can cut down on the amount of swelling you are experiencing.

Soak the peppermint leaves in water for about 30 minutes. You can rinse your mouth out with this solution. Do this multiple times a day and the swelling should subside.

Lemon Juice

While lemon juice is high in acidity, it can be used temporarily to get rid of gingivitis. Try mixing a small amount of lemon juice with warm water. Wash your mouth out with the solution to kill the bacteria in order to prevent it from growing.

Echinacea

Echinacea is great for enhancing your immune system and fighting infection. It can greatly decrease the swelling in your gums.

Echinacea can be mixed with warm water to create a mixture that can serve as a mouthwash. Rinse your mouth out with this solution consistently until you see that the swelling has gone down.

If you are dealing with gingivitis, try using these natural remedies to solve the problem. If this doesn't help, pay a visit to your family dentist.

About Me

A Healthy Smile Is Important for a Great Overall Appearance

I have always loved fashion and beauty and have always taken great pride in my appearance. As a young adult, I never missed a hair coloring appointment or hesitated to run out to the mall to grab the latest trendy clothing item, but unfortunately, I didn't care for my teeth as well as I should. While I never used to be one to "shy away" from photos, I started fearing the camera after I saw how bad my teeth looked in one. That photo was a wake-up call, and I then dedicated myself to taking better care of my teeth at home, visiting the dentist regularly, and getting the dental work I needed. I learned a lot during this time, so I decided to start a blog to help others make smart dental decisions. Come back and check out my posts!
